5 Benefits Of Being In A Long Distance Relationship

The general belief is that long distance relationships are not healthy and can’t last long, but hey, that is not always the case. And, I’m here to point out why you should probably try out a long distance relationship.

1. It improves communication

In a long distance relationship, you get to tell your partner of your daily activities and all going on around you, in doing this you learn to connect deeply and communicate well.

You get to talk about everything and make each other laugh and smile enough that you almost forget you’re not together. You learn about them. Their fears, their worries, their hopes. You talk about a lot of things and reach a deep level of trust that might have taken a long time to reach if been physically together every day.2.You are less likely to confuse lust with love

2. You appreciate the moments when you actually are together

Sometimes you tend to take your partner for granted,  Once you get into a rhythm, it’s hard to remember how special it is that the two of you found each other. It can be easy to forget that of all the people in the entire world, the two of you ended up choosing each other. But when you have to go a few weeks or months, without seeing each other, it’s pretty much  difficult to forget how grateful and thankful you are to have one another. When you see them again for the first time and are overwhelmed with the familiarity of their scent and the sound of their voice, you remember to appreciate every single second.

3.You experience a deep level of emotional intimacy

You get to develop a deep level of emotional intimacy and appreciate your partner more whenever he is around. Long-distance changes things. You’re not just casually dating someone, every second you spend together is cherished, and when you aren’t together, you pass the days by sending thoughtful texts and having long talks on the phone or on Skype. You talk far longer than normal couples do, because hanging up the phone and going to sleep means you have to leave them. It’s not fun to be separated. In fact, it’s pretty much downright painful. But it takes you to places you never thought you’d go with another person.

You get to be attracted to your partner mostly because of the conversations and the true feelings developed you have rather than the sex you share

4.You learn to be independent

You become very independent and don’t have to rely on you partner for most things because you are not always seeing him, you focus on doing most things by yourself and can tackle challenges you face daily without always depending on him. When times feel tough, your partner can offer emotional support but won’t be able to sweep in and fix things for you. Like many other aspects of long-distance love, this rarely feels fun in the moment. You will, however, grow in self-sufficiency and independence. This, in turn, will only make you more attractive to your partner.

5. You practice being patient

We live in a world where many things come fast and easy. We can send a text and be responded to almost immediately, but when you don’t get to see your partner often, you learn how to be patient, you plan ahead and look forward to when next you both get to see, good relationships require some patience.
