#HeinekenLFDW: 7 Nigerian Celebrities Spill Their Go-To Beauty & Style Secrets For Fashion Week

The Heineken Lagos Fashion & Design Week is just around the corner! This year’s edition kicks off on Wednesday, 25th October and we’re super excited about it for a number of reasons (some of which we’ll be sharing with you in a later post).

Ahead of the event, which is arguably the biggest fashion week in these parts, we got 7 of our favourite fashion week regulars to share their go-to beauty and style tips for fashion week with us.

Take a look at what they had to say below.

Zainab Balogun

Zainab Balogun, Actress & TV Host

1. Don’t sleep with your makeup on!

2. Keep a consistent routine for cleansing, moisturising morning and night.

3. Protect your skin by wearing sunscreen at all times.

Sharon Ojong

Sharon Ojong, Creative Communications Director
1. Makeup – Less is more. It really is about the fashion and how you put your style together not your facebeat. Plus you would be under the sun for a while. Which brings me to #2
2. Sunscreen – A must! Got a bomb outfit and want to be featured on major blogs street style? You need to get to the venue as early as possible which means you would be under the sun for a while daily.
3. You would need sunglasses, blotting paper and definitely some tissue.

Bolanle Olukanni

1. Make sure you slay.
2. Practice your pose before you leave the house because there are photographers everywhere.
3. THINK outside the box, but make sense with the clothes.

Jennifer Oseh

Jennifer Oseh, Stylist & Model
1. You need to stay hydrated. Have a bottle of water close by at all times. It helps you look alive and fresh in between shows.
2. Wear red lipstick for more oomph, but of course you can always go for any shade that suits your skin tone.
3. Keep your hair moisturized and sleek.

*Bonus (And Very Important) Tip: Have a mint in your mouth/bag throughout the show. You’re going to be hugging and greeting and granting interviews, last thing you want is your breath scaring people off .

Jane Michael Ekanem

Jane Michael Ekanem, Celebrity Stylist & Designer
1. Keep your makeup subtle so as not to compete with your ensemble for attention, but don’t skip the glow. As a matter of importance, invest in body oils, illuminators and bronzers but not so much as to become sweaty and uncomfortable because of the amount of time spent outside.
2. I believe fashion week is the time when all bold and eclectic colors come out to slay. This is the time to bring out your edge and rock those colors and combinations that you ordinarily wouldn’t. Everyone is trying to be a part of or begin a fashion conversation with their looks and there is no reason why you shouldn’t too.
3. Fashion week is definitely not for the faint-hearted and requires a lot of standing and movement so make sure to wear comfortable shoes. To knock the fashion and street style game out of the park is the goal yet comfort and confidence can be regarded as two fashion staples that will ensure you pull off whatever look you are sporting.
Have a wonderful time Ladies!

Ozinna Anumudu

Ozinna Anumudu, Brand and Image Consultant
1. Always have a mirror in your purse! It can get hot and sweaty outside the tents while taking pictures, and you will need to fix your face.
2. Don’t wear excessive make up – it’s a fashion show, we care more about your outfit than your facebeat.
3. Wear Primer! You want your make up looking flawless in all your photos, a good primer will help it seat on your face properly.

Mimi Onalaja

Omowunmi ‘Mimi’ Onalaja, TV Presenter
1. Go Bold! Fashion week is the best time to be an exaggerated version of yourself, so be extra expressive with bold lip colors and statement eyes!
2. Have a strict routine for the end of each day and stick to it. It’s four days of nonstop makeup so be sure to take it out completely and correctly every day.
3. Smile! There’s no better beauty tip than a smile!
