Does it get more iconic than Marilyn Monroe? Decades after she passed away, the actress and model is still setting and breaking records.
A custom-made Jean Louis dress the late actress wore as she sang ‘Happy Birthday, Mr. President’ to John F. Kennedy ahead of his 45th birthday in 1962 was just sold at an auction for a whopping $4.8 million.
Bought by the Ripley’s Believe It or Not museum chain, the dress embellished with 2,500 hand-stitched crystals was said to have been so tight, Monroe had to be sewn into it for the performance at a Democratic Fundraiser which took place at New York’s Madison Square.
The performance was one of her last public appearances as she died three months later from a drug overdose.
