The vagina is one of the most sensitive parts of the female body; if it isn’t taken care of properly, it makes the body susceptible to diseases and infections.

Most women neglect the proper ways to care for their vagina because they do not know any better or they couldn’t care less, forgetting that a happy vagina = a happy woman.

Below are some ways to keep your vagina healthy and free from infections:

  1. Skip using soaps:

Soaps shouldn’t be used for the vagina because the vagina has its normal flora which cleans it naturally. Soaps can kill the normal flora and this can cause room for germs.

2.  Always use condoms with new partners:

Condoms are the most effective ways to protect against sexually transmitted diseases, they can also keep your vagina’s pH level steady during sex, preserving the normal flora. If you aren’t using condoms, then washing up after sex will keep your vagina healthy.

3.  Wear cotton underwear

The vagina prefers cotton underwear compared to any other material. Cotton let’s air in and absorb moisture, that’s why most underwear come with a strip of cotton in the crotch.
4. Eat lots of fruits:
Eating pineapples, strawberries, and other fruits help to freshen the smell of the liquids secreted by the vagina. Fruit also has a high water content, and staying hydrated helps flush the body of toxins that can lead to bad smells.
5. Don’t overuse antibiotics:
Unnecessary antibiotic usage can reduce vaginal health because antibiotic kills both good and bad bacteria, which includes the normal flora, giving room for yeast and other infections to grow.
