Caring For Your Breasts In These Ways Will Keep Breast Cancer Out Of Your Future

Breast cancer is the most common cause of death among women globally. It is a major source of concern for a lot of women, and while there is really no known cause for this deadly disease, studies have shown that there are some healthy habits and lifestyle changes that can prevent it.

 

  1. Reduction of alcohol consumption and smoking:

Excessive intake of alcohol is known to be one of the risk factors of breast cancer, that is the more the alcohol you drink, the greater your risk of developing breast cancer. It’s safe to limit yourself to at most an alcoholic drink in a day.

Apart from heart disease, stroke, wrinkles or bad teeth, there is a great link between smoking and breast cancer, especially in premenopausal women.

2. Consumption of fruits and vegetables

Consumption of fruits and vegetables makes for a healthy diet and can help lower the risk of breast cancer.

3. Be physically active:

Exercise and other physical activities help you maintain a good weight and good health which helps prevent breast cancer, women who are physically active for at least 30 minutes a day have a lower risk of breast cancer.

4. Breastfeeding:

This is basically for mothers and it helps greatly in the prevention of breast cancer. The longer you breastfeed, the greater the protective effect.

5. Regular breast examination

Breast examination and screening saves lives. In as much as it doesn’t help prevent cancer, it helps detect it early enough when it is still treatable.

Breast examination can be done by oneself while breast screening is done using a mammogram.
