‘Chocolate Milk Mommies’ Breastfeed Their Babies In New Photoshoot To Encourage Other Nursing Mothers

Because ‘nursing carries a negative stigma within the black community’, members of Chocolate Milk Mommies – a parenting group in Birmingham Alabama posed for a photoshoot while breastfeeding their babies in an attempt to shatter this stigma.

One of the members of the group, Adams Rauslyn said, “It’s important to show black women breastfeeding because our community needs it. We need the support and we need our children to be healthy as well.”

“The indecency claim of public breastfeeding generalizations make it hard for any woman, let alone an African American woman to nurture her child through breastfeeding.”

The group hopes that the images will show the beauty of breastfeeding and encourage more black women to nurse.
