Dear Ladies, Your Armpit Hair Is Really Not A Feminist Battle

So I’m casually scrolling down my Twitter timeline when out of the blues, a pair of unshaved armpits jumps out at me, accompanied by a tweet that said she (the owner of the hairy armpits) wouldn’t let misogynistic opinions dictate what to do with her body.

Okay. Out of curiosity, I type in “Misogynistic Armpit” and “Armpit Hair”on the search tab and I’m stunned to find out that there is a raging conversation about armpit hair and misogyny on the Internet.

You know, a few years ago when Miley Cyrus and Madonna started showing off their underarm growth, I waved it off as a Miley and Madonna thing but as my search would reveal, it is actually not. There are lots of women growing out their armpit hair and posting pictures of it on the internet to make some sort of statement.

For the life of me, I can’t make sense of any of it.

I am no expert on these things and neither am I one to dictate to anyone what to do with their body but dear sisters, there is nothing remotely misogynistic about people not finding your armpit hair attractive.

I understand that the world isn’t exactly a fair place and everyone is constantly looking for something to be angry about but this isn’t that fight. Sincerely.

So you want to keep your armpit hair? By all means do. Plait didi with it or pack it into a ponytail – whatever rocks your boat – but stop (please!) shoving it in our faces, stop making a big deal out of it and stop expecting everyone to be cool with it because that is just not going to happen.

Plus the last thing I want to be confronted with while scrolling down my phone at lunch is a pair of bushy armpits. Like can I please eat in peace?
