‘Every Newspaper Said I Kidnapped Him’ – Madonna On The Struggles She Faced While Trying To Adopt

Madonna is sharing a bit about her private life on the cover of People Magazine.

The mother of six, who co-founded Raising Malawi, a non-profit that provides help for Malawian orphans and children discussed the emotional journey and challenges she faced while trying to adopt.

She brought son David,11 home from Malawi in 2008, a baby battling with both pneumonia and malaria who she instantly connected with.

“Every newspaper said I kidnapped him, in my mind, I was thinking, ‘Wait a minute. I’m trying to save somebody’s life. Why are you all s—-ing on me right now?’ I did everything by the book.”

It was a ‘real low point’ said Madonna, revealing she would always cry herself to sleep after it happened.

The singer recently split from ex-husband Guy Ritchie and tried to adopt Mercy,11, which was more difficult, the Malawian officials said she was ‘not capable of raising a child’ but eventually she succeeded and brought Mercy home in 2009.

And just this year, Madonna adopted Estere and Stella,5, orphaned twins whom she met years back, a process she described as stressful.

“Because I’m a public figure, people don’t want to be perceived as giving me any kind of special treatment, so I get the hard road.”
