Fashion Designer Rikaotobyme Releases Statement Following Allegations Of Stealing A Client’s Design

Fashion designer, Maryam Elisha of Rikaotobyme has released a statement following the claims by  a customer that the designer gave out her custom wedding anniversary dress to a model for a photo shoot.

In her statement, Maryam claims that she actually made two of the dresses – one for the customer and another for the photo shoot because the client did not sign for exclusivity.

She also demanded that the customer should issue a public apology for trying to tarnish her brand’s image or face consequences.

Read the brand’s full statement below.

Our attention has been drawn to a statement made on Instagram by @queenisthetitttle, FALSELY accusing our Brand of giving out her dress to a model.

For four (4) years, we have made bridal dresses for her to USE and SELL under her own brand label @krystalbridalcouture in her country and we have always met her demands.

When she accosted us on the matter of this BLUE dress on Sunday, she was rightly told we made two (2) dresses; one for our company’s use and the other for her. We offered to show her the video of BOTH dresses side by side on Monday – but she was impatient to see and clarify/make her conclusion.
Please NOTE: We have the right to make as many copy dresses as we want as she DID NOT sign for exclusivity nor did we charge her for a one-off design; the screen shot of the design she posted as evidence of her idea is actually OUR VERY OWN creation and usual pattern – which is very evident from the pictures on our page!

By this deliberate act to tarnish our image by capitalising on the “Red Dress Mixup” in December of which she referred in our WhatsApp chat, the desperation in her tone to make drama out of nothing in order to bring publicity to her brand would not bring about the desired results.

Please note that the Beauty Queens who modeled this outfit of ours @zina_zokufa and @mariselle4 have NOTHING to do with this or the dress belonging @queenisthetitttle

We wish to use this public medium to tender an unreserved apology to them and by extension to their reputable organizations: @theaurorafoundation & @missearthnigeriaofficial which in the first place permitted them to model our Brand .

We therefore regard @queenisthetitttle’sτ action as defaming and this has cost our Brand so much.

We hereby demand an IMMEDIATE APOLOGY through the same means by which the false accusations were made. If this is not done within the next 24 hours, we will have no choice but to meet in court.

Thank you.
