“I Am Calling On The President To Pity Me” – Leah Sharibu Speaks On Boko Haram Captivity

After the release of the ‘Dapchi school girls’ in March 2018, by Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) a faction of the Islamic terrorist organization Boko Haram, one of them, Leah Sharibu, is still being held captive- for not renouncing her religion and converting to Islam at the command of the terrorists.

In a recent audio recording acquired The Cable, Leah is heard appealing to Nigeria’s government rescue her. She was heard saying,

“I am Leah Sharibu, the girl that was abducted in GGSS Dapchi. I am calling on the government and people of goodwill to intervene to get me out of my current situation.

“I also plead to the members of the public to help my mother, my father, my younger brother and relatives. Kindly help me out of my predicament. I am begging you to treat me with compassion, I am calling on the government, particularly, the President to pity me and get me out of this serious situation. Thank you.”

However, according to the Presidency, the audio received is under investigation by the Department of State Services to ascertain if it is really the voice of Leah Sharibu.

The Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, disclosed this in a message he posted on his Twitter handle, @GarShehu.

“We are aware of the audio in circulation concerning the unfortunate situation of our daughter, Leah Sharibu. In dealing with terrorists, nothing is too trivial. The secret service is analyzing the voice. Our reaction will follow the outcome of the investigation. For President Buhari, nothing will be spared in bringing all our girls home. He will not rest until all of them are freed” he tweeted.
