Lady Laments About How The High Cost Of Igbo Bride Price Made Her & Her Husband Debtors

Bride price is a marriage custom that has been in practise as long as marriage itself. The intending groom is billed a certain amount and items before he can marry the woman.

Some regions and tribes have it higher than others and according to this newly married Igbo lady, her tribe’s price is probably one of, if not the highest.

The lady named Nkiruka Akpovili took to the social media to cry out about how the high cost of Igbo bride price is scaring men away from Igbo women.

According to her, she and her new husband returned to Lagos as debtors after spending loads of money on her marriage ceremony.
