Letting Go Of The Hurt Holding You Back From a New Relationship

Heartbreaks are difficult. Learning to let go of someone you used to share your life with, learning to let go of the beautiful memories, learning to accept that your new reality which no longer includes them. Sigh. The whole process is depressing, and it’s one a lot of people do not recover from for a very long time.

But no matter how bleak the situation or future may seem at the moment, you need to understand that mooning about changes nothing. So darling, get a grip of yourself, and live your best life while you can.

It might not be easy at first but the following steps can help you let go of the hurt holding you back from a beautiful new relationship and life.

Accept the truth and be thankful

You need to accept the fact that your last relationship wasn’t healthy and be thankful you realized this fact early enough.

Focus on what you can change

Life can’t be so perfect as you wish, all you have to do is Live, love, let go, learn what you can and don’t waste energy worrying about the things you can’t change.  Focus exclusively on what you can change, and if you can’t change something you don’t like, change the way you think about it.

Claim ownership and full control of your life

No one else is responsible for you.  You are in full control of your life. If you want to let go and move on with your life, you’re the only person who can make it happen.

Distance yourself for a while

Sometimes you need to take several steps back in order to gain clarity on a situation.  The best way to do this is to simply take a break and explore something else for a while.

Repeat positive affirmations to yourself

If your past hurts have left you with damaged self-esteem, try taking a moment to think about some of your most positive qualities. Then remind yourself every single day of how wonderful you are.

Associate with positive people

Associate with positive people that will help you become stronger and better, cut all ties that will make you keep remembering people you want to forget, always have it in mind that some people come into your life just to strengthen you, but you can still move on without them.  They are supposed to be part of your memory, not your destiny.

Take a chance

When life sets you up with a challenge, there’s a reason for it. This challenge is your chance to let go of the old and make way for the new.  Your destiny awaits your decision.

Forgive and let go

Forgiveness is a sign of strength, not weakness. It does not mean that you condone the hurtful actions, but rather that you will not allow those actions to burden you any longer. When you forgive someone who has hurt you, you are giving yourself a wonderful gift. You may experience peace of mind, less stress and fewer symptoms of depression. You will also be increasing your chances of having more successful relationships in the future.

Focus on today

You can rewrite a story starting from a day, begin a new story in your life, and decide that you won’t allow the negativity in your past relationship affect your new story. Figure out what the next positive step is, no matter how small or difficult, and take it. The only thing you can ever really do is to keep moving forward. Simply forget the past, look straight ahead and forge toward the future.

Love yourself and prove that love to yourself.
