Kenyan-Mexican actress, Lupita Nyong’o has revealed she have written a children book titled ‘Sulwe’ to inspire young children to walk with joy in their own skin.
In a post on Instagram where she disclosed this, the 34-year-old wrote,’I am pleased to reveal I have written a children’s book! It’s called ‘Sulwe’! Sulwe is a dark skinned girl who goes on a starry-eyed adventure, and awakens with a reimagined sense of beauty. She encounters lessons that we learn as children and spend our lives unlearning.This is a story for little ones, but no matter the age I hope it serves as an inspiration for everyone to walk with joy in your own skin. Coming January 2019!!’
The Black Panthers star also said in a statement that the book would draw on her own experiences of being ‘taunted’ about her skin.
The picture book is targeted to children between the ages of five to seven, and will be will be published by Simon & Schuster Books For Young Readers, next January.
Lupita Nyong’o was brought to limelight after her Oscar-winning performance in the hollywood movie, 12 Years A Slave.
