TOP TEN NOLLYWOOD MOVIES OF 2017

·         The Wedding Party 2:

This is apparently the most talked about movie in Nigeria presently. With the amazing chemistry between Banky and Adesua in the first part of the movie to the real wedding party, The wedding Party 2 is the most anticipated movie of 2017. The Wedding Party 1 became the first Nigerian movie to make over 450 million naira in the cinema beating Ay’s record. We are very certain that the second part of this movie which is going to hit the cinema on the 15th is going to break records like the first installment. It brings in new characters like veterans Patience Ozorkwor and Chinwetalu Agu, Wofaifada, Chigirl and we are very convinced it will be an amazing party.

·       Okafor’s Law:

Omoni Oboli does a great job with her movie publicity. Last year, her movie Wives on Strike made 71 million naira at the box office. With regards to her movie Okafor’s Law, Omoni made us giddy with excitement and suspense. She projected the movie with the #SomethingMajorIsComing and that ‘major thing’ came with copyright issues, but the writer, actress, director and producer was able to rise above this controversy. The Movie stars actors like RMD, Blossom Chukwujekwu, Ufoma Mc Dermott, Toyin Abraham, Omoni Oboli, Gabriel Afolayan, Halima Abubakar, Ken Erics, Yvonne Jegede and Mary Larazus. The box-office queen carefully selected her actors and they made magic making the movie the 5th highest grossing movie at the box office. 90 million naira is not a joke.

·         10 days in Suncity:

When AY sits down to make a movie, you know what you should expect.  The ace comedian still remains the king of the box office. Co-incidentally, 10 Days in Sun City was being shot at the time when Banky proposed to Adesua. The movie stars actors like RMD, Adesua Etomi, 2Baba, Gbenro Ajibade, Mercy Johnson and AY himself who is the lead character. With AY, you would always expect a high grossing movie. This time, his trip to Sun City earned him 177 million naira at the box office.

·         Isoken:

We’ve always know Jade Osiberu to be an amazing series producer. With hit series like Skinny Girl in Transit, Rumour Has It and Gidi Up, we were excited when we heard that she produced her first feature film Isoken and Jade did not disappoint us. With characters like Dakore, Tina Mba, Funke Akindele, Joseph Benjamin, Damilola Adegbite, Lydia Forson, Patrick Doyle and others, Isoken is one of the top movies of 2017.

·         Alakada Reloaded:

After changing her surname name from Aimakhu to Abraham earlier this year, Toyin has never looked back. She has been involved in so many projects this year.  2017 has been a beautiful year for the actress and producer. In August 2017, she released the continuation of her movie Alakada titled Alakada Reloaded. The movie is one of the most talked about movies this year and it made over 70 million naira at the box office.

·         Hire A Man:

Chinneylove Ezeone is an amazing producer under 30 doing so well. She blew our minds with her movie Hire A Man which stars actors like Enyinnaya Nwigwe, Nancy Time, Daniel Lloyd, Ik Ogbonna, Bayray Mc Nwizu, Zynnell Zuh. The Romcom which made waves this year grossed 35 million naira in just 15 days. Now, that’s huge!

·         Alter Ego:

Just when we were looking for Omotola, she showed up with a stellar performance in Alter Ego. The controversies surrounding Omotola and her intimate scenes in the movie was an attraction for a lot of people watch the movie.  Actors like Kunle Remi, Jide Kosoko, Wale Ojo, Gregory Ojefuna and starred in the movie.

·         The Women:

Blessing Egbe is one of our favourite filmmakers. She’s popular for her TV series Lekki Wives, Blessing took her passion to the big screen with The Women. Omoni Oboli, Kate Henshaw, Ufuoma Mc Dermott, Kalu Ikeagwu, Anthony Monjaro, Gregory Ojefua and Lilian Afegbai are characters in the movie. This movie is definitely one of the top movies in 2017

·         My Wife and I:

My Wife and I was an amazing reunion for Omoni and Ramsey as they had had the opportunity to reunite on screen after previously working together on set in Kunle Afolayan’s Figurine. In the movie, the husband (Ramsey Nouah) and wife (Omoni Oboli) trying to make their marriage work wake up in each other’s bodies. This situation unveils a lot of other exciting events.

·         The Tribunal:

Kunle Afolayan doesn’t come to play when he makes his movie. Figurine, The CEO, Phone Swap and other movies produced by Kunle proves to us that he’s still one of the greatest filmmakers in Nigeria. In the movie The Tribunal, Kunle picked up a topic that we don’t really talk about with regards to albinos, treated the topic properly with a wonderful exhibition of acting prowress. The acting, the plot and everything will blow your mind. The movie still remains one of the most brilliant movies since the history of Nollywood.
