Realness Corner With Fola Francis: #LFDW Day 1

Hey Slayer, it’s fashion week YAY!

#LFDW Day 1 kicked off on Wed the 25th Oct at the Eko Atlantic city. I got to the venue a little early so that I’ll make it in time for the street style. Although I must say, the location was a bit hideous, there was no form of signpost outside the venue to affirm the location. After asking around I got the venue and I loved it. it’s very spacious and flexible, like LFDW could do whatever they want with the space, it is that big. I also liked the experience tent where you could find some vendors, chill, and take some pictures before the street style. In the experience tent was also the “Creators lounge” set up by “The Assembly” which I think is a little too small, I mean it could barely take 15 people, I was expecting something bigger because it was really hyped. But they had plenty snacks and sweet, a space for me to charge my phone, I was able to sit on a comfy couch, so all is forgiven.

When I stepped into the street style, boy oh boy the fashion cool kids came out to slay, peeps wore all sorts of outfits, I mean why not? Fashion week is the perfect time and place to go crazy on then fits to attract attention. Some looks I paid attention to were ripped jeans, shredded tops, statement word play shirts, little sunnies, Adire, short shorts, berets, wide leg pants, and bell bottom pants. I saw about four different people rocking Aso Oke infused outfits, could it be the next cool trend? (Fingers crossed)

The Runway show started 1 hour 36 minutes late (as per casual), bright side is it started earlier than last year’s, so shoutout to progress innit.

One of my favourite designers that showed last night was “Morafa” who happens to open the fashion week. His pieces were electrifying, shinny, classic, oozing and screaming royalty. His show sure gave me mixed feelings, I loved it.

My second Fav from last night was “8th Wanda”. It was my first time watching Wanda’s runway show and I wasn’t disappointed. The pieces were eccentric, they were all in black and nude, some of the models were heavily beaded and translated the pieces perfectly looking like outcast Demi Goddesses.

Titi Belo is forever a Fav, and YASS! She brought it last night. Her pieces were girly, funky, and chic. Using denim, white cotton fabric, metallic green pleated fabric, and chocolate brown fabric.

While “Ugo Monye’s” show was happening  there was a little electrical glitch which caused a little panic as all the lights went off and some wires were spiking, everyone was running out, well I didn’t run because I had to get some receipts of the situation on my instastories lol, but what I liked was a voice spoke out, told us all to remain calm and made a joke out of it, calling it a “free firework show”, and the technical team came out immediately to handle the situation, within 3 minutes the show continued.

My ultimate Fav from last night was “Style Temple”. ???? OG reminded me why I fell in love with her in the first place. Her pieces were so high fashioned, they were all shades of gorgeousness in grey, beige, white and some tribal patterns. Some of the pieces were giving me sheer dreams. Although one particular model had a little “wardrobe malfunction” flashing a nip,???? but she handled it like a boss and was unbothered.
