Are you one of those people who think it’s cool to show up to an all-white party wearing black or red or any other colour except the one stated in the invite? Well, here’s some free advice for you: STOP!
Celebrity stylist and personal shopper, Remi Fagbohun took to her Instagram today to address the issue and explain why it’s absolutely wrong for you to do that.
She wrote:
People oftentimes forget the proper etiquette to attending social events. When you receive an invitation and decide to attend or not, it should always be about who invited you. They obviously thought highly enough of you , to invite you in the first place , right? Well how highly are you thinking of them when you see that there’s a dress code and you blatantly ignore it. Saying it’s not your color, or you don’t wear white ????????♀️????????♀️????????♀️ – then why not decline? You’re messing up someone else’s vision. Most people who call a color or have a theme , have a vision in mind. They aren’t just thinking of food and drink , they are thinking of the visuals as well. And you’re spoiling that for them. Yes , we are all different , but never ever forget it’s about the person throwing the party/celebrating who you’re there to support … not about YOU!!! There are so many other moments in your life (when you have your own parties or attend events without a color or theme) that you can shine. The moment to be different isn’t to wear black to an all white party. That’s just RUDE!!
