Thought you were the only one who heard that tampons can “disvirgin” you? Well, you’re not. We asked 9 Nigerian women what their preferred menstrual blood absorber is, and as expected, a lot of them went with sanitary pad for a variety of reasons.

For some, their distaste for tampons is because they’ve heard absurd stories about how it gets stuck in one’s vagina, or how it might destroy certain things (read as hymen) inside there, and for others, it’s simply because they haven’t even seen a tampon their whole life.
