What Nigerian Celebrities Need to Know About Marriage and Social Media

By now, you must have heard that Toyin Aimakhu Johnson and her ‘Ife-Mi’ (rolls eyes) are at war. The story broke when the famous Yoruba actress deleted all her husband’s photos from IG, changed her name and removed all ‘marriage’ details from her bio.

In this time when every step you make is noticed by the social media ‘police’, it is rather unwise to make such moves. Why? Because you pull the world into your marriage.

Mr. Johnson added more fuel to the fire when he confirmed the news that his wife was mad at him by adding a controversial hashtag to his IG post.

Now, Mr. and Mrs. Johnson could have kept these discussions about their marriage off social media, and avoided all the attention. Or maybe that was the plan, who knows?

These days, celebrity marriages have become trivialised, especially the ones in which the celebs publicise their relationship. Because in the end, most break up.
