Snapchat put up an ad on its platform asking users if they would rather slap Rihanna or bunch Chris Brown and the singer is not mincing words about her displeasure.
Rihanna has just reacted to the controversial ad (which appears to reference Chris Brown’s conviction for assaulting Rihanna in his car in 2009 while they were dating) on her Instagram stories saying Snapchat let her and all the women, children and men that have been victims of domestic violence in the past down.”Shame on you,” she wrote. “Throw away the whole app-oligy away.”
The platform which seems to be getting a lot wrong lately had told Newsbeat the advert, which was only published in the US, was published “in error” and had been removed immediately.
Snap said: “The advert was reviewed and approved in error, as it violates our advertising guidelines. We immediately removed the ad last weekend, once we became aware.”
“We are sorry that this happened,” it added.
