5 Important Lessons From Gbemi O.O., Toolz and The Olumofin Brothers

Gbemi Olateru-Olagbegi and the Olumofin brothers made yesterday a fun day for us, mainly because as humans we delight in other people’s misery, and also cos social media fights are just the ‘best-est-est’.

*Note – For the LASTMA officials who still don’t know what happened, you can read all about it here.

Now, before we get carried away with apportioning blame and making fun of who said what, and why it was said, it is important to realise that there are lessons to be learnt, especially for us girls and boys.

  • Lesson 1

While this twitter comment is a tad harsh, it is important that one learns caution when sharing ‘gist’ cos frankly, the only person you can ever trust with a secret is yourself.

  • Lesson 2

I don’t think Toolz did anything wrong either. The lesson here is for the third party who decides to take another person’s matter personally. So girls and guys, the fact that your friend decides to tell you about her business doesn’t give you liberty to spread it. You are not NTA????

  • Lesson 3

So maybe Gbemi did oversabi, so what? It was in Toolz’s place as a friend to stand by her. And I’m not saying she should have tied wrapper and gone to fight, but a little show of support would have been nice. True friends stick with you no matter what.

  • Lesson 4

Never ever ever use a bulldozer to kill a mosquito. That is what the Olumofin brothers did, and it wasn’t cool.

In their bid to ‘clap-back’  they ended up looking crass and uncouth. So while you need to respond so your friends won’t call you an ‘ode’ or a ‘dodoyo’, try to do it in a way that would best reflect on you. Unless you don’t have a reputation to protect, then by all means continue…

  • Lesson 5

Finally, silence is golden! Not everytime ‘clap-back’, sometimes just ‘unlook’ and let Jesus take the wheel.

‘Nough said…????
