Celebrity magazine, City People on Sunday the 3rd of April hosted a number of guests to a private KWAM 1 concert held in honor of its 20th anniversary.
With the magazine being a gossip magazine and all, we thought to share with you five things we could not have missed from the concert:
- The “asoebi”- Anyone walking into the venue uninvited would have noticed that all guests had something in common, the asoebi. As with all things City People, the concert would not have been complete without it.
- The black agbadas: Apart from the Ankara asoebi, one would have thought some of the dignitaries present picked an asoebi for themselves as a number of them were dressed in black agbadas. Could it be a Yoruba demon thing?
- Coca-Cola is everywhere: One has to commend Coca-Cola for always touching even places you would least expect and the City People concert wasn’t left out as branded “City People at 20” Coca-Cola cans flooded the event.
- As usual, Kwam 1 brought his soul: Kwam 1 is known for always performing with everything he’s got and the City People concert buttressed that exactly. The Fuji guru thrilled the crowd with songs from the beginning of his career till date.
- The humility on Dr. Seye Kehinde, though: If you were watching and listening to Dr. Seye Kehinde speak at the concert for the very first time, you would have been shocked at how simple he is and how after 20 years of celebrity years and much more of journalism, he looks like your every day banker or accountant. Nothing about him screams publisher of the nation’s biggest soft sell magazine, but then they always say empty barrels make the loudest noise right?
