Lending her voice to the wave of actresses speaking out about abuse in the film industry, How to Get Away With Murder actress Karla Souza has said she was raped by a director earlier in her career.
The 31-year-old who made this shocking revelation during a CNN en Español interview on Tuesday said, “He knocked at my door saying he wanted to go over some scenes and I thought it’s 2 a.m., it’s not appropriate and it’s something that shouldn’t be happening,”
According to her, she refused to open the door when he knocked again and the next day, he decided not to shoot her scene and began to humiliate her in front of others on the set. After this ‘total abuse of power’ continued for about a month, she gave in to his advances feeling she had no choice.
“[I let him] kiss me, to touch me in ways I did not want him to touch me,” she said, “and in one of those instances, he attacked me violently and yes, he raped me.”
Karla didn’t reveal who the director is.
