Janelle Monae just came out as pansexual.
Now if you’re wondering what the heck that is, here’s a definition we found on Google:
Pansexuals have the capability of attraction to others regardless of their gender identity or biological sex. A pansexual could be open to someone who is male, female, transgender, intersex, or agendered/genderqueer.
The singer whose sexuality has been a subject of interest (and gossip) for a long while addresses the issue as she covers the latest edition of Rolling Stone.
“Being a queer black woman in America,” she says. “someone who has been in relationships with both men and women – I consider myself to be a free-ass motherfucker.” She initially identified as bisexual, she clarifies, “but then later I read about pansexuality and was like, ‘Oh, these are things that I identify with too.’ I’m open to learning more about who I am.”
She also says she hasn’t necessarily hidden her sexuality like people are wont to believe. “If you listen to my albums, it’s there.”
Now y’all can get off her areola for real.
