For her SS 17 collection tagged, ‘Artistic Statement‘, womenswear designer, Lanre DaSilva Ajayi collaborated with renowned artist, Ayoola Gbolahan to make a case for wearable art.
According to the designer, “From the onset, I visualised an artistic imagery which prompted me to work alongside renowned artist Ayoola Gbolahan who brought my creative thoughts to life. The beauty of imagination is limitless. I could see and analyse the feelings they would evoke in every woman. The feeling of not just pride alone but of strength and renowned dignity”.
She employed fabrics like silk, velvet, lace, organza to create classic pieces whilst playing with volume and adding a generous amount of unique but unnecessary drama to a few of them.
LDA doesn’t make clothes for everyday people. She knows her audience and this collection is no doubt, one they will appreciate.
