Nigerian World Cup Jersey Evolution: All The Kits From 1994 To 2018

The new Nigerian Super Eagles jersey was recently unveiled in London in an elaborate ceremony that had Nigerian superstar artiste Wizkid in attendance.

The team is set to wear the brand new kit at the 2018 World Cup set to take place in Russia in June.

While Nigerians continue to react to the designs of the kits the boys’ will adorn, let’s take a quick trip down memory lane and revisit every single jersey the Super Eagles has worn since its first World Cup appearance in USA, 1994.

USA’94 World Cup

The Eagles’ uniform at Nigeria’s very first outing in 1994 is possibly their most iconic. The green top was complemented with a black round neck and a sleeve with white patterns.

France ’98 World Cup

The Eagles vamped up their look in their Nike produced 1998 kit with an all green ensemble that featured a white line running from the neck of the shirt to the side of the short. It was edgy and retro all the same time.

The year was 2010 and the green was several shades calmer. The white line was still featured on both the shirt and shorts but the design was definitely more ultra-modern than the previous one.

For their fourth World Cup appearance, the designer of the Eagles’ jersey decided to add a bit more pigment to the colour of the boys’ kits. The collar from the very first World cup was also revisited with an updated spin of course.

Here we are! No matter what you think about it, one thing is for sure, it was made with millennials in mind. The most adventurous Super Eagle jersey yet, many Nigerian celebrities and footballers have approved of the latest design. We can only hope that this new design will be made even more memorable when the boys bring the trophy home.
