Saturday night, Africa’s foremost Entertainment awards platform, The Headies returned to continue its rich tradition of celebrating the very best in the Nigerian entertainment scene. From the opening performance by Falz to the final performance by Davido, the headies set out to create a rare experience.
Major highlights of the night included Mr. Real’s performance to the street hop jam “Legbegbe”, an amazing throwback performance by “Danfo Drivers” which got everyone off their feet and an epic speech by Davido on accepting his Artiste of the year award.
Bovi on making a return to hosting duties, masterfully compered the show alongside the ever delightful Seyi Shay. Their quips and jabs at various pop culture issues made for some of the greatest laughs of the night.
With Simi, Wizkid and Davido winning big on the night, the headies didn’t disappoint in giving the much-deserved accolades to these entertainers who have worked to deliver amazing musical content over the course of the year in review.
In the award categories, four new categories were introduced and they include; ‘Headies Viewer’s Choice’, ‘Industry Brand Supporter’, ‘Best Performer’, and ‘Best Songwriter of the year’. These categories further celebrated some previously unsung heroes in Nigerian entertainment scene.
