The internet went wild after Beyoncé shared this photo of a star-struck woman staring at her with mouth wide-open as she and husband Jay-Z walked by.
It’s not hard to see why the photo went viral because, I mean, it’s basically how all of us would be if we ever ran into Beyoncé anywhere.
Now, the woman who has been identified as Susan Monaghan is sharing just how surreal and magical the moment was for her. In an interview with Boston Globe, Monaghan who was in New York City with her family on the Grammys weekend for her granddaughter’s gymnastics competition and to celebrate the birthday of her daughter, said she had just exited the elevator at her hotel when an entourage of photographers and security guards came bustling towards her, when she looked up, Jay-Z, who she didn’t immediately recognize asked her, “You look familiar, do I know you?”
“I’m thinking in my mind, ‘Who is this?’ And I looked at him and he looked tall, and thin, and had curly hair, and was really good-looking,” she said. “And I’m thinking.”
Then, when she looked to her right, she spotted an elegant woman with radiant beauty: It was Beyoncé.
“I was like ‘Oh, my God!’” Monaghan said. “I looked at her and all I could think was, ‘No one is going to believe me. No one is going to believe me.’” Beyonce might have heard her because according to Susan, she turned and flashed her a smile that seemed to say “Don’t worry, it’s going to be OK.”
On why she thinks Beyoncé included the picture of her among those posted to social media, she said: “I think she posted it for me. So people would believe me.”
