1. As a kid he used to be popular for ‘yabbing’ other kids in his neighbourhood.

2. His entertainment career started when he was a rapper in the group Da Psychophats.

3. He got his break as a comedian through Ali Baba in 2000 while he was a student at the University of Benin.

4. His performances  on Opa Williams’ Nite of a Thousand Laughs made him a household name.

5. He started his own stand-up show Basketmouth Uncensored in 2005.

6. His 2010,  Basketmouth Live at The Apollo was the first time an African comedian would host a comedy concert at the HMV Hammersmith Apollo in London.

7. In 2015 he became the first Nigerian comedian whose TV special Comedy Central Presents Basketmouth – Lord of the Ribs filmed and broadcast Comedy Central.

8. He was knighted by Queen Elizabeth II*

9. In February 2017, he became the first African comedian to headline a show at London’s Wembley SSE Arena.
