It’s Barbie season, and stars across the world are channelling their inner dolls for the premiere of the film, in which Hollywood star Margot Robbie stars as the lead actress and Ryan Gosling as Barbie’s partner Ken.
The film, which will be premiering on July 21, has had everyone in the Barbie fever, with premieres and slumber parties being held to promote the film.
With the craze going on worldwide and fashionistas giving their own interpretation of the doll’s style, here are ten of the best Barbie-inspired outfits that we’ve seen so far.
Leomie Anderson In Nensi Dojaka SS23
Leomie looked like a life-sized doll as she wore a two-piece from Nensi Dojaka’s SS23 collection. The two-piece outfit consisted of a bra dress designed with a cutout heart and a micro skirt. She was unarguably one of the best-dressed celebrities at the European premiere.
Nicola Coughlan In Custom Wiederhoeft
Still, at the European Premiere, Nicola Coughlan wore a luxury outfit custom-made by Wiederhoeft. The outfit, which had a carefully draped neckline and was accentuated with tear-drop studs, is the exact type of outfit you would envision Barbie wearing.
Shay Mitchell In Shushu Tong SS23
In line with the tagline of Shushu Tong’s SS23 collection ‘Pretty Woman,’ Shay Mitchell looked elegant as she wore a black dress from the collection. Very Barbie-like, animated, pretty, short, and elegant. She paired it with a mini bag that completed the Barbie feel at the Barbie World Premiere.
Derin Odugbesan In Weizdhurm Franklyn
One thing Nigerian fashionistas would do is make iconic recreations, and Derin Odugbesan does that as she looked exactly like a doll in the structured dress from Weizdhurm Franklyn. The dress, which is from their Autumn Winter Ready To Wear 2022 collection was in honour of the Barbie Premiere At Film House Cinema.
Eku Edewor In Kadiju
Another Barbie outfit we saw on the Nigerian red carpet was Eku Edewor’s replication of Barbie’s iconic outfit for her brunch. The two-piece, which was from Kadiju’s The Antithesis of Convention collection, consisted of a Pink Bustier top with a Silver Metal spiral skirt.
Eku elevated the outfit with her black sheer gloves, cat-eyed clear glasses, and mini bag.
Simi Drey
Simi Drey gave us the classic Chanel look with her two-piece pink outfit consisting of a mini skirt and cropped jacket, and it was just the perfect Barbie outfit recreation. She paired the outfit with white platform heels, a white mini bag, and a giant white bow knotted at the back of her hair. There is nothing more Barbie-like than this.
Issa Rae In PatBo
At every Barbie premiere, Issa Rae manages to up her looks from the previous one, but her outfit at the London premiere is superior to others. The actress who wore the Wave A-Line Mini Dress from PatBo, looked all shades of exquisite as the outfit suited her skin tone too well.
Simi In Ann Cranberry
At the just concluded Nigerian Idol Live shows, one outfit we can confidently say was one of the best of the season was the all-pink outfit designed by Ann Cranberry for Simi. The music star stunned in the mini skirt and the rose halter neck top.
Margot Robbie In Schiaparelli
Last but not least is Barbie herself, Margot Robbie. For the last leg of the Barbie world premiere, she wore a replica of the ‘Solo In The Spotlight’ Barbie from 1960, and it immediately became everyone’s favourite recreation.
The strapless sequinned dress was replicated by Schiaparelli’s Daniel Roseberry.
Margot also looked stunning in a custom Vivienne Westwood dress inspired by the ‘Enchanted Evening’ Barbie. She paired the outfit with a replica of Barbie’s stacked pearl necklace for the Barbie London Premiere.
