It was a night of clean classic looks as some of Hollywood’s biggest stars graced the 2024 Golden Globes Awards red carpet at Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills, California, on Sunday, January 7, 2024.
The 81st Golden Globes Awards marked their second-year comeback after their diversity and voting scandal, which led NBC to drop the broadcast in 2022, only for it to be back following reforms from HFPA that led to the award show getting acquired by Dick Clark Productions.
With an expanded membership from about 85 to 300 individuals, the Golden Globes officially kick-started Hollywood’s award season last night. From Margot Robbie to Ayo Edibiri and music stars like Taylor Swift and Selena Gomez to the attendance of the now Golden Globe-winning music star Billie Eilish, the red carpet was a delight and a show of classic looks.
Here are the best-dressed stars of the night.
Ariana Greenblatt
Ariana refused to conform as she stunned on the carpet in a custom YSL look that had everyone talking. She paired a tailored pantsuit from the brand with a white unbuttoned shirt accessorised with Jimmy Choo heels and an array of Chopard jewels. It was simply giving sophistication.
Margot Robbie
We always trust our live-action Barbie to bring colour to the carpet. At this year’s Golden Globes, she looked ethereal as she channelled the 1977 Superstar Barbie Doll in a dress designed by Giorgio Armani Prive.
Carey Mulligan
Andrew Mukamal took us back to the Schiaparelli archives as he styled the movie star in a custom dress inspired by the evening Schiaparelli gown tagged ‘Forbidden Fruit’ that model Shari Herbert wore in Time on October 10, 1949. He paired the dress with simple accessories from Bvlgari.
Gillan Anderson
The strapless dress, the slick back hair, the face card, the embroidery, the choice of accessories, everything came together to create this timeless look Gillian spotted last night. The dress designed by Gabriela Hearst is reportedly an ode ‘to female anatomy as a way of protesting restriction to women’s rights.’
Angela Bassett
Angela looked graceful as she wore a custom look from Dolce and Gabbana. The off-shoulder satin mermaid cut dress was accessorised with 18k gold ruby and diamond drop earrings from Lagos Jewelry.
Tyler James Williams
Tyler was styled to perfection in a custom Dolce and Gabbana pinstripe suit accentuated with an organza flower brooch inspired by their Spring/Summer’24 collection. He further accessorised with a black satin tie, white shirt and black pointed shoes.
Jennifer Lopez
JLO stunned the carpet in a custom mikado cape with exaggerated flower sleeves by Nicole Felicia Couture. The cape, which was the belle of the ball, masterfully complimented the strapless mermaid dress from the brand. The dress was accessorised with jewels from Boucheron.
Hailee Steinfeld
Not everyone can pull off a boxy look, but Hailee does this effortlessly as she was styled in a technical pink satin gown with a geometric train and a backless bow detail. She accessorised the outfit with sheer black gloves and leather pumps to match. The best part of this outfit was how well it was styled. Her hairstyling also deserves a moment.
Hunter Schafer
One thing Hunter will do is slay. For the Golden Globes, she wore a column dress designed with a light pink silk gazar. The dress was made with a technical voile and layered with flounces, which was paired with matching pumps and a simple clutch that made the outfit even more ethereal-looking.
Greta Lee
Speaking of clean classic looks, Greta Lee was an embodiment of that as she wore a dress from Loewe. The backless detail alone stole the show. From the knots to the cut, then the flair alongside the choice of accessories and overall her hairstyling, Greta ate the whole look up, and we’re here for it.
