From Legon to Instagram – See Crazeclown’s Amazing Transformation #ThrowbackThursday

This is most likely going to be regarded as a famzing article. But it’s not like I churn out write-ups on every single person I attended school with, so let me be the first to admit it – the only reason this article is being penned down is because Emma (Crazeclown) is now famous. Yes, I said it.

To be quite honest I never saw his popularity coming. He always had a thing for making people laugh but I didn’t see how medicine and comedy would combine. Apparently, my friends and I were shortsighted. But that’s the thing about success – it changes perception.

A good instance of our shortsightedness was when Emma wanted to date one of my friends in our second semester. When we teased her about him, she would hiss and diss his style, which was a combination of blue high-tops, blue G-shocks and a white leather waist-coat. She usually ended it with a resounding “Iyama”. She must be crying somewhere now.

Crazeclown was known as Mas Mas, Emma or Crazy Clown in Legon. He only stayed in Accra for level 100 before leaving for Kharkov National Medical University, Kharkov, Ukraine so we weren’t close at all, but whenever our paths crossed, he was good company.

At that time he had already made up his mind about comedy and did stand-up a few times. One of the reasons why his success amazes us is because my friends and I saw his craft grow (over the internet). Mas Mas wasn’t particularly funny then. In fact, I recall a few of us rolling our eyes when he cracked “another dry joke”. But when he hit 200,000 followers on Instagram and began doing shows with stars, my friends and I would proclaim that we knew him whenever we got the opportunity.

People always want to associate with success right?

It’s good to see him do well. If you’ve watched any of his skits you know he’s in love with what he does, and it’s always been like that. I wish him all the best and I know he’ll go far.
