In a glamorous ceremony held last night in Washington, Miss Stephanie Del Valle from Puerto Rico beat 116 other contestants from all over the world including Nigeria’s Debbie Collins to become the 2016 Miss World.
Stephanie, who is a student and musician, was genuinely stunned when she was announced the winner of the coveted crown ahead of Yaritza Miguelina Reyes Ramirez of the Dominican Republic, and Natasha Mannuela from Indonesia who were the 1st and 2nd runners-up respectively.
This would be the 2nd time in the pageant’s 66 years of existence that a Puerto Rican would win the prestigious title.
The new Miss World was crowned by the outgoing queen, Mireia Lalaguna from Spain who won the title in 2015.
Stephanie, who stands at 5′ 8″, speaks three languages – English, French and Spanish and has hopes of getting into the entertainment industry.
