2018: Don’t Miss The Machete

As children, we have dreams…big dreams. Dreams so big they almost can’t fit into our heads. We want to be President. We want to own big fancy cars. We want to have so much money we’ll lose count of how much there is. We want to travel around the world.  We want to be oh well, Spiderman.

As we grow older, we become more aware of how unlikely achieving them is, yet we hang on, hoping, believing, thinking, ‘maybe, just maybe’. Growing older still, we become more awake, awake to reality and slowly these dreams die away and become replaced with new achievable ones. We hope still.

At a point it hits us, there isn’t much time left! We have achieved nothing! Then we make a desperate dash, like one looking for a weapon in the dark to fight an enemy. But because we aren’t calm enough nor thinking straight, we miss it, the machete.

We forget our dream to teach, or go for that competition, or write a book or even own a farm. We seek desperate measures. ‘What’s every other person doing? Music? Internet fraud? Politics? Whatever? I’ll do it too’. That way we miss the machete, right under our nose.
