Every season of Big Brother Naija, there is always that couple that has everyone talking. In the house, their chemistry is unrivalled and outside the house, their relationship looked like it held so much promise that shippers would donate millions of naira to the couple because of how well they’ve portrayed their love story.
While there are successful love stories like Khafi and Gedoni, Bambam and Teddy A, and many more who have gotten married after meeting in the Big Brother Naija house, most of the love stories in the house never end well. Most times they end horribly.
Here are five of the messiest relationship break ups in BBNaija history.
Mercy and Ike
When the Pepper Dem season aired in 2019, Mercy and Ike were the hit couple. The love story onscreen, the reality TV show after Mercy had won the show, and everything after was just a beautiful love story to see. However, their relationship ended badly with both parties bashing each other with their platforms.
Mercy had said, ‘My last relationship was a disaster, it was really disastrous.’ On the other hand, Ike had said “I am single because I showed more love in 2020 than I ever got back and I’m alright with that.”
Groovy and Phyna
Groophy are unarguably one of the most controversial BBNaija couples. Groovy had previously been with another housemate, Beauty, when he came into the house, a few days after getting disqualified for breaking Big Brother’s rules, Groovy and Phyna’s relationship started to blossom.
However, their relationship seems to have ended as Phyna granted an interview where she said his feelings for her were not genuine.
“Initially, getting into the relationship [with Groovy], it was genuine for me till I found out that it wasn’t genuine for him. So, when I heard that he wanted some other girl. Though, I liked him so much, no cap,” she said.
Groovy had taken to his Twitter on multiple occasions to indirectly address the issue, while Phyna has also done the same.
Liquorose and Emmanuel
This breakup is unarguably one of the messiest. Liquorose and Emmanuel worked really well together in the house, but people outside the house seemed to think he was not interested in her as much, and it was all for the game.
Well, they were right. Months after the show, the couple broke up after Liquorose had caught Emmanuel cheating on her on the BBNaija South Africa trip.
Khalid and Daniella
Khalid and Daniella seemed like the perfect couple because they operated on the same wavelength – they are both intelligent. However, everything went sideways when Khalid was evicted.
As soon as Daniella got attention from another housemate, Dotun, she almost immediately moved on from her relationship, while Khalid was so sure that no one could get to her.
Diane and Elozonam
Although they are cool now and currently thriving in the industry, Diane and Elozonam’s reunion revelation was one that had people talking for days. Elozonam had ended the relationship after Diane had gone home with Ghanaian actor Mawuli Gavor, at an event that they initially attended together.
According to him, he felt disrespected and decided to end it. Diane revealed that Elozonam had also allowed his friends to disrespect her while adding that she had apologised for the incident with Mawuli.
