Hope For Africa Concert: A Showcase of Africa’s Unity and Diversity

The Hope for Africa Concert was a celebration of Africa’s unity and diversity, with its lineup of performing artistes and speakers from all over the continent, making it a truly pan-African event.

The three-hour show was organized by One Africa Global Foundation in partnership with MultiChoice Africa, to raise funds that would provide personal protective equipment for healthcare workers at the frontline of the fight against COVID-19. The show brought Africans together, showing unity despite the diversity in language and culture.

The concert covered performances in English, French and other native languages by A-list African artistes as well as goodwill messages from COVID-19 survivors from Nigeria and Tanzania. Even Africans in the diaspora joined in on the show like Canadian-based Nigerian artist Tome.

The music on the show was a beautiful blend of sounds from countries like Kenya, Nigeria, Ghana, Zambia, Angola, Uganda and a host of others. We especially enjoyed the DJs from Nigeria, Tanzania and Angola, who gave mixes that portrayed the music that was most popular in their countries.

Nandy treated us to a beautiful performance in her native Tanzanian language, complete with a band and a backup dancer. Kenyan singer Akothee had us all dancing when she broke out those dance moves as she sang in Pidgin. And Nigerian singer Praiz gave us chills as we listened to him perform two songs in English.

The Hope For Africa Concert saw a lot of amazing performances from artistes like 2Baba (Nigeria), Adina (Ghana), Akothee (Kenya), Bombshell (Zambia), Betty G (Ethiopia), CIC (Liberia), Cobhams Asuquo (Nigeria), Davido (Nigeria), DJ Spinall (Nigeria), DJ Vivian (Uganda), Eddie Jay (Senegal), Efya (Ghana), Falz (Nigeria), Flavor (Nigeria), Jose Chameleone (Uganda), Keche (Ghana), Ladipoe (Nigeria), Lij Micheal (Ethiopia), Mr 2Kay (Nigeria), Nandy (Tanzania), Nsoki (Angola), Sarkodie (Ghana), Scientific (Liberia), Shadaya (Zambia), Stonebwoy (Ghana), Tekno (Nigeria), The Ben (Rwanda), Tiwa Savage (Nigeria), Waje (Nigeria) and Yasirah Bhelz (South Africa).
