In 2019, NECLive and HipTV created a new record for the channel’s longest uninterrupted live broadcast after broadcasting the conference for over nine hours. The music and lifestyle channel founded in July 2007 by Ayo Animashaun, a NET Honours recipient, has supported the conference since its inception in 2013.

This year’s event will now find a home on Hip TV where a pre-recorded special broadcast will air, as well as a live event featuring select speakers and performers.

“NECLive8 is seeking to provide the tools, resources and connections that will further drive the change and innovation that the industry is yearning for. And HipTV is at the forefront of steering that change as well. We are glad to continue this 8-year-old partnership, and build pathways for the future,” Femi Falodun, CEO, ID Africa, said in a statement.

This year, NECLive will explore the theme: Building The Future, with a spotlight on the actionable steps being proposed and tools being developed by innovators trying to solve the problems facing various industry stakeholders; policymakers, corporations, creators, and consumers.

This edition of the conference will be a hybrid media event, featuring speakers who are leading the charge in rethinking the approach to consumer entertainment and creative enterprise.

“Hip TV has been a NECLive partner since inception and we are happy to support the conference once again this year. Our mission at Smooth Promotions is to continually contribute to the growth and development of the Nigerian entertainment sector, and NECLive is leading the charge in building the future that we envision for the industry,” Ayo Animashaun, CEO, Smooth Promotions and Founder, Hip TV commented.

With this partnership, it is expected that NECLive will reach up to 20 million people around the world watching live on cable TV, other electronic channels, and streaming via NECLive’s digital channels.

Confirmed speakers at this year’s event include Nigerian comedians Basket mouth and Bovi; co-founder of Andela and Flutterwave, Iyin Aboyeji;  Nollywood star, Dakore Egbuson-Akande; and founder of the Temple Management Company, Idris Olorunnimbe.

Over the span of seven years, NECLive has attracted over 12,000 physical participants and 20 million viewers and audiences on television and digital. Nigerian Entertainment Conference (often stylized as #NECLive) is an umbrella conference for the entertainment industry in Nigeria, which continually discusses the trajectory development of the sector and shapes the discourse and practices surrounding it.

#NECLive is the marketplace for innovative ideas, products, the unveiling of dynamic solutions that will connect, engage and encourage industry collaborations for sustainable socio-economic development while offering a brighter future in the continent.

NECLive8 is organised by ID Africa in partnership with Huce Valeris, AV Edge, Livespot, 7even Interactive, HipTV, Megalectrics, EDS, Big Cabal Media and BHM, and with sponsorship support from Nigerian Breweries and MultiChoice.
