#MondayMotivation: 10 Rules For Success

Oprah Winfrey at the Golden Globes

I used to think in the past that motivational books, talks, messages and all of that were a waste of time. I couldn’t get my head around it that something which would be forgotten in a moment had any power to make better, anyone’s life.

I swam in this ignorance until my third year in school when I read a quote on a friend’s phone that said something along the lines of, ‘You shouldn’t be ashamed of your scars. They are proof that you are stronger than whatsoever tried to kill you.’

This seemingly simple quote transformed a big part of my life. I had scars from a trying period of my life I was very ashamed of. I didn’t want people to see how ugly I felt it was and I was embarrassed by the questions that came after someone sees it for the first time so I hid it. Putting up the act of hiding it and at the same time pretending I wasn’t was uncomfortable. I envied girls who wore anything they wanted in the hostel and moved around freely.

Reading that quote changed everything and sort of freed me from the chains I put myself in. I saw my scars as what the quote said it was and stopped hiding it. You won’t believe how happy and free I felt afterwards.

This post isn’t about my scars. What I bring you in today’s MondayMotivation post is a video of the iconic entrepreneur, Oprah Winfrey giving 10 rules for success and my little scar story is saying, ‘take it seriously, you might not know how positive your life will become afterwards’.
