Nelson Mandela‘s ex-wife, Winnie has been rushed to the hospital in Johannesburg, South Africa with a Kidney infection on.
According to The Mirror, her family has made a statement concerning her health. They said, “Prior to going to the clinic she was uncomfortable and complaining of loss of appetite and that one of her legs was painful. Upon admission, it was discovered that she had an infection and that it had affected her kidneys.She is expected to make a full recovery and should spend approximately a week in the hospital.She is constantly surrounded by family and is in high spirits.”
The 81-year-old South African anti-apartheid veteran was married to former the South African President for 38 years, including the 27 years he served in jail and she maintained close ties with him despite their divorce and his second marriage in 1998.
Winnie has been in and out of the hospital since 2016 for knee and back surgery.
