Realness Corner With Fola Francis: #LFDW Day 2

Hey Guys! I’m here again to bring you the tea on what went down at the Lagos Fashion and Design Week Day 2.

I feel like I should have a name for my readers here on 234star.com. I think I’ll call y’all “Starlites” from now on.

Let’s dive into the gist already. I got to Eko Atlantic early (as per usual), because I wanted to shine on the Street style, and I did. I was wearing a two piece look from Burton London, my shoes were Alexander Wang, and a head-tie over my head which gave my outfit major buzz, and got photographers capturing it. Let’s not make this post about me but I was high-key feeling myself yesterday.

As usual I wasn’t the only one who didn’t play by the rules yesterday, I saw more of  Ankara on the street style, lots of blazers, Adire, Aso Oke (like I mentioned in my last post, it’s becoming a major thing), DIY looks, statement wordplay tees, and plenty berets.

Let me take a moment to appreciate the food vendors for not ripping us off because it’s fashion week. The food is so good and affordable. Although I expected Heineken to give us free beer, but they charged us per cup, y’all are the major sponsor why charge??

Moving on, the show started just 45 minutes late – that’s major progress, I’m not gonna be shady. House of Kaya opened the show, I didn’t really vibe with his pieces, so I’m just gonna move on to my favourites from last night.

Osuare teamed up with other plus size designers to showcase for About That Curvy Life and I love love love the collection. The pieces were mostly embellished Adire, white and black fusion. Showcased by sassy plus sized models, with pink fro wigs.

My second fav was Elie Kuame. I’ve had my eyes on Kuame since last year. He’s an established designer in Paris, and Gosh! the fabrics he uses are always to die for, his pieces were in burgundy colour, silver, peach, champagne gold, blue, and lots of black sheer fabrics. The collection was couture and the models all had cute purses.

Everyone who saw the runway shows last night would agree “DZYN” won LFDW day 2. Her pieces were art, she went crazy on them pleating, and petals. The choice of colours were mild, gave me enough chills to concentrate on the details. Some of the pieces were embellished, colours used were peach, nude, powder blue, mint green, white, and fuchsia pink. DZYN show was a Couture fairy tale.

Those are pretty much my favs from last night. After the Dzyn show, Di’ja came out to perform for “Sunny Rose‘s” Finale walk, but I didn’t feel her performance, she looked great but the performance wasn’t it for me.

Oh! I almost forgot, Davido showcased his collaborative collection with Orange Culture (DavidoXOrangeCulture). The collection wasn’t bad. While the models were walking, we could tell when Davido got to the backstage because the noise that came out was massive, all of us already knew who was about to come out to take his bow.

So that was virtually everything significant about day 2 LFDW. Hope you had a good read.
