This Couple Got Married 6 Days After They Met On Facebook

Facebook is not just for chatting and ranting. People like Chidimma and Ijeoma have  proven that it could also be a place to meet one’s life partner, and (wait for it!), get married 6 days after!

In a chat with BBC, the couple told their story. Grab you a packet of popcorn, a very cold drink, a very comfortable seat and read on.

Chidimma Amedu made a Facebook post asking anyone interested in being his wife to reply. He wrote,”Am of age to and I am ready to say I do and am wasting no time.Send in your applications – the most qualified will be married on January 6, 2018. Application closes 12 midnight, 31/12/2017,”

In a subsequent post he wrote, “Am serious about this oh and don’t say you did not see it on time. Good luck.”Among the responses he got was the one from Sophy Ijeoma who thought he was joking. She wrote:”Am interested, just DM me…lols,”. Well, that got his attention and he slid into her DM!

Two days after their first conversation, he travelled some 500km (300 miles) from his home in the northern city of Abuja, to Enugu in the east where she lived. She said it was love at first sight and he was the most handsome man she has ever met. They had an ‘awkward conversation’ and took her to see his uncle also residing in Enugu and introduced her as the girl he wants to marry. He approved! They also went to meet Sophy’s family and they approved too. The couple were engaged to be married in six days – less than a week! This just got more interesting, yeah?

The groom had Chidimma was engaged to another woman and the wedding was scheduled for December, but the relationship fell apart in March leaving him dejected which was why he made the post on Facebook. When asked if she thought the relationship was a rebound, Ijeoma dismissed it saying, “I don’t care about that – when you see what you want, you go for it.”

The did their traditional marriage on the 6th of January and are hoping to have their white wedding by April. Cheers to the couple!
