On Friday, October 13, 2023, Nigerian music star Wizkid and his family held the final funeral service in honour of his mother, Jane Dolapo Balogun, who passed away on August 18, 2023, in London.
During the music star’s speech to the guests at the Wake Keep, Wizkid described his mum’s passing as the “deepest pain he has ever felt.”
The final rites started with the Wake Keep on Thursday, October 11, 2023, and concluded with the procession held at the RCCG City of David Church in Lagos in respect to his mother’s Christian faith.
In celebration of life, a party was held afterward, with some of Nigeria’s biggest personalities in attendance. Here’s how the ladies served graced the funeral.

Kim Oprah employs the expertise of her usual asoebi designer, Fiolakemi Atelier, to create an intricate dress that most people will be recreating soon. The dress was an off-shoulder dress with the top part appropriately covered for the event but stylish enough for a celebration.
Faith Morey
The Real Housewives of Lagos star kept it simple with her draped dress designed by Ann Usman. From the embroidery intricately placed across her dress to the simple choice of accessories, it was the perfect dress for the night.
Toolz
Tabs Atelier turns a simple asoebi style into major asoebi inspiration as she used tulles to accentuate the neckline of Toolz’s off-shoulder asoebi dress. The media personality graced the event with her husband, Captain Demuren.
Eniola Badmus
Eniola Badmus was decked out in gold as she stepped out to honour the life of Wizkid’s mum. She looked stunning in her asoebi dress designed by Lolars Finesse.
Khloe
Stitches By Andra went above and beyond with Khloe’s dress as she designed the mermaid dress with a deep plunged neckline in 24 hours.
In a post paying her respects, Khloe said, “Currently paying our last respect to the life of our beloved Big Wiz’s Mom, acknowledging the time well spent and saying our goodbyes.”
Jane Dolapo Balogun was survived by her children Ayodeji ‘Wizkid’ Balogun, Yetunde Balogun, Lade Balogun, and her husband Alhaji Muniru Olatunji Balogun.
