In line with Victoria’s Secrets’ new creative direction, the lingerie brand employed the help of different creative women from different backgrounds and continents to create a feature-length documentary film that was showcased at the New York Fashion Week (NYFW) on Thursday, September 7, 2023.
The film, which highlights the work of Nigerian designer Bubu Ogisi and employs the creative direction of fast-rising fashion creatives and filmmakers like Wavy The Creator, Ashley Okoli, and Korty EO, is aimed at celebrating female voices in the fashion and entertainment industry.
Here’s what the stars wore for their NYFW Victoria’s Secret show.
Korty EO
Korty looked straight out of the 80s with her bedazzled black dress from the exclusive IDIOLNUPO bare collection piece. She accentuated the dress with diamond accessories and slick back braided hairstyle.
Wavy The Creator
It’s not a Wavy look if it isn’t a mix of American Ivy and streetwear aesthetics. For her debut look, she paired a statement matching leather pant and jacket with a white shirt and loosely knotted tie. For structure, she added a bedazzled belt midriff and accessorised with the limited edition, Faded Black ‘Cold Melt’ PEP shades.
Naomi Campbell and Mayowa Nicholas
Bubu Ogisi is on a mission to change people’s ideas of how Africans should be dressed, and this time, she chose to explore the Yoruba and Edo mythology while designing Naomi Campbell and Mayowa Nicholas’ outfits for the show.
Naomi embodied the spirit of Yemoja, the supreme mother deity of all, in a handmade brass and bronze dress made in Nigeria and Kenya. Mayowa represents Sango, the deity of justice, with a feathery two-piece sourced, handwoven, and assembled between Tanzania, Kenya, and Nigeria.
