One of the major highlights we were looking forward to as BBNaija season seven premiered over the weekend was the host Ebuka Obi-Uchendu’s outfits.
Like every other season premiere, the media personality wore outfits designed by Mai Atafo for the premiere of the show, which was held on Saturday, July 23 and Sunday, July 24, 2022. However, there was more thought to the symbolism of Ebuka’s outfits in this premiere.
Following the theme of the new BBNaija season Level Up, Ebuka, with the renowned designer were on a mission to make the media personality connote royalty with every outfit he wore at the premiere.
For his first outfit, he wore a silk three-piece suit with a pink ruffle shirt and wine velvet bow tie that made him look like he was channeling the fashion of the royals in the ‘90s. The ruffle shirts were once worn by royalty and revolutionaries of both genders to connote strength and exceptional power in the Elizabethan era.
His second outfit was as exceptional as his first. The BBNaija host wore a colourful Agbada. The attire made of different fabrics was paired with a purple cap and black shoes.
BBNaija season 7 was a double launch. For the second launch night on Sunday July 24, 2022, Ebuka wore a double-breasted crop tuxedo jacket with British high waist tuxedo pants. The flowery tuxedo was paired with black boots.
In the usual Ebuka style, he must pay homage to a particular culture with his outfits on every live show, and that’s what he did with his second outfit on Sunday. He looked dapper as he wore the traditional Hausa outfit.
The senator outfit, paired with a bisht-like cloak, made the TV host look like royalty. In the Arab world, the Bisht (traditional men’s cloak) is worn for special occasions such as weddings and festivals. It is usually worn by kings, imams, tribal chiefs and more, and they are considered a status garment associated with royalty, wealth and ceremonial occasions.
Which of Ebuka’s outfits from the BBNaija double launch show is your favourite?
