In the past year, Nigerian artistes have performed on some of the world’s biggest stages, and like her introduction at the King Coronation Concert, the ‘Queen of Afrobeats’ Tiwa Savage was not left behind as she gave an outstanding performance of her hit single ‘Keys To The Kingdom’ at the King Charles III coronation concert at Windsor Castle, United Kingdom.
Representing in Nigerian colours, the music star wore a green metallic dress with a glamorous train designed by Nigerian designer Lanre Da Silva Ajayi. And in Nigerian style, she blinged out her outfit with custom-made diamond and emerald accessories from Frost of London.
Tiwa Savage performed alongside top international acts like Katy Perry, Lionel Richie, Steve Winwood, Paloma Faith, Bette Midler, Andrea Bocelli, Peter Tong, and more.
In her three minutes performance, she included multiple elements of her Nigerian roots as she made use of the talking drum that made way for her backup singers to eulogise her in Yoruba. The song she performed, ‘Keys To The Kingdom’ was also a significant song, as it was a track off the Beyonce album ‘The Lion King: The Gift’ featuring Mr Eazi.
The song talks about a king not forgetting his heritage and prestige, a perfect song for a coronation ceremony, but certain people, particularly black people, do not agree with the choice of the song considering the fact that the album was made with black heritage in view.
However, the court of public opinion chooses to judge the case, no one can deny the fact that Tiwa Savage gave a beautiful performance.
