From Beauty Tukura’s AMVCA-winning best-dressed outfit that was styled by Damola Adeyemi to Enioluwa Adeoluwa’s metallic brown suit moment, the carpet was a sight.
Aside from the winners of the AMVCA best-dressed awards, here are some of the most innovative designs we saw at the award show that held at the Eko Convention Centre in Lagos.
Kie Kie
What better way to receive an award than to go in a flower-embroidered dress dazzled with statement jewellery? Kie Kie looked stunning in her dress designed by Yemi Shoyemi. Her stylist, Seun Olopade, accessorised the dress with The Marabeth Ruby jewellery from Karhla Jewels.
Ini Edo
Tonight Ini Edo had 11 nominations for her film Shanty Town, and she had to represent in style. The actress dazzled in a custom dress from Lakimmy, the couture brand behind Juliet Ibrahim and Chioma Good Hair’s AMVCA9 dresses. She paired the dress with diamond accessories.
Kanaga Jnr
Kanaga Jnr always finds ways to infuse his heritage into his red-carpet looks, and he has done it again at the AMVCAs. This time, he looked every piece of royal with a suit set, which had an extended drape designed by Visible Proof.
Mercy Aigbe
Ceo Luminee and Mercy Aigbe are a fashion match made in heaven. For this year’s AMVCAs, Mercy Aigbe looked every beat of captivating in a brown dress accessorised with tear-drop jewels. The outfit was given extra drama with a ruffled tulle train attached to the dress, and we loved every bit of it.
Broda Shaggi
Broda Shaggi took it all the way to his roots as he rocked a colourful aso oke designed by Foremost Oyewole. He paired the outfit with red beads and shimmery footwear.
Zozibini Tunzi
Zozi was the host with the most, and she had the perfect designer to slay her dress. The 2019 Miss Universe, who wore a bejeweled dress designed by Lanre Da Silva Ajayi was styled by Damola Adeyemi, the stylist behind the styling of Beauty Tukura’s AMVCA best-dressed winning dress.
Nini
The Khavhia Woman aims to look timeless, and that’s exactly how Nini looked in the mermaid dress designed by the brand. The reality TV star, styled by Swazzi, accessorised her outfit with jewelleries from Swarovski. She simply looked elegant.
Akin Faminu
Akin Faminu’s tux game is never lacking. The fashionista wore a navy blue checkered jacquard, four-lapel layered tuxedo from Deji & Kola, and he slayed the look. Unlike the collection itself, he paired the tux with plain navy blue pants with heeled booths.
Medlin Boss
We love a designer that always steals the red carpet spotlight. The celebrity stylist particularly looked gorgeous in the dress designed by Somo by Somo. The dress, which was designed in 24 hours, was all the accessories and glam Medlin Boss needed to make a fashion statement on the red carpet.
Yemi Cregx
The reality TV star is slowly walking his way into every best-dressed list as he looked absolutely regal in his outfit from Jeff Urban. The flared slitted pants, the embroidery at the nape of his outfit, the colour, and the Zeus boots from King Daviid, every single accessory worked.
Chimezie Imo
The AMVCA best actor nominee came out of his comfort zone for this outfit. Chimezie wore a custom appliqued and beaded red velvet suit paired with a poet-sleeved shirt from Izu Udokwu’s unreleased fashion collection ‘Its Bloom Time’. A perfect outfit with the perfect message for his rise to fame in the film industry.
Taymesan
Taymesan never wears boring suits, and this time he is way above the rest with a custom-made ensemble from T.I Nathan. He paired a cropped blazer with an under-the-burst silver corset. Simple yet elegant as he also accessorised his outfit with a distinct yet simple pearl necklace.
Lillian Afegbai
Lillian Afegabi always likes to look snatched, and she looked every bit of it with her cut-out dress designed by Erica Moore. The actress was styled by Swanky Jerry.
Bimbo Ademoye
It was Bimbo Ademoye’s night at the ninth edition of the AMVCAs, and everyone had to agree as she stunned in a custom-made dress designed by Xtrabrideslagos. The green dress, which was doing all the talking with its extravagance, was paired with a simple diamond earring from Boz Diamonds.
Juliet Ibrahim
Rogers Timi had a vision for Juliet Ibrahim’s AMVCA look, and he outdid himself with it. The dress designed by La Kimmy was a physical representation of what art should look like. Interestingly her jewellery was from the 2k Shop. Let’s talk about an economical and fashionable queen.
