Celine Dion has only been with René Angélil all her life, the only boyfriend she ever had. So we can only imagine what she must be passing through.
Since the time she went into his office and sang to him, she was 12 at the time, he was a show business veteran, and she just wanted to sing. They began working together from then and 8 years later they began dating. “So maybe at 17, 18 years old, my feelings started to change for him. I kind of saw him differently,”
They managed to build an empire, not that René was not already rich, but with Celine, together they became successful, with her albums selling over 220 million copies, one can only imagine.
The couple had 3 kids together, all born through in vitro fertilization (IVF).
All through that time René, was diagnosed with throat cancer, it went into remission and then came back, at different times in which Celine took breaks in music, to take care of her husband.
In an interview with USA today, Celine revealed that “René says to me, ‘I want to die in your arms,” “OK … I’ll be there, you’ll die in my arms.”
On Thursday, January 14 2015, René Angélil lost the battle to throat cancer, bringing their love story to a painful halt.
Did he however die in her arms? We are yet to find out.
