How Fans Reacted To Veekee James’ Over N12 Million Splurge On Wedding Accessories

As Nigerians continue to marvel at the bucks Veekee James and her partner, Femi Atere, spent on their big day, questions keep arising, questions we neither have answers to nor feel are of relevance because it’s their big day. That’s enough reason to justify the need for the extravagance.

Ten outfits, two weeks, two photo shoots, and three major wedding events after, the couple is committed to phasing out the outside noise as they embark on what we consider one of Nigeria’s most luxurious weddings in 2024. With her accessories alone, Veekee James has set a precedence – not that it’s a competition – with her style, unique designs, carriage and choices of accessories.

Regardless of how we feel, fans are polarised on why the celebrity designer felt the need to splurge as much and are questioning if her husband, Femi Atere, is responsible for footing the entire bill. Other female fans are simply seeing this as a motivation to earn more in order to splurge on their special day.

“As a woman have money o, at least during your wedding you can get some things you wish to use on your day by yourself. It is not written anywhere that hubby must pay for everything,” a fan who had commented under a post detailing the fashion designer’s wedding accessories said.

Another fan added: “That’s why I must have money before I marry at least even if it’s small earnings in a foreign currency! So you can spoil yourself as a lady! It’s sweet! The man accords you some type of regard based on this.”

While some made it a moment to highlight the need for women to be financially stable enough to afford their weddings, some were curious as to whether the celebrity designer would wear these accessories again. “My pain is she’ll not wear them again,” a fan commented.

Another fan replied, “Says who? These accessories are practicable. Even the heel inches are reasonable. What makes you think she just got them for her wedding.”

Usually, these accessories stay in the archives until they are needed. When we spoke to Kud Collection, a celebrity fashion designer, she could not empathically say what happens to these fashion pieces. However, she disclosed that they are usually kept in the stars clothing archives – meaning she can always choose to wear them again.

On October 6, 2023, the celebrity designer revealed that she was engaged to her ‘answered prayers.’ Three months later, the couple had their introduction at Veekee James’ hometown in Akwa Ibom. With four scheduled ceremonies slated for the couple’s official joining, we’re looking forward to more looks.
