A year after the Golden Globe Awards was cancelled for its lack of diversity and questionable voting practices, the award show is back for its 80th edition. And it seems like the Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA), the governing body for the Globes, has learnt a thing or two about diversity.
Angela Bassett, Tyler James Williams, Quinta Brunson, and Michelle Yeoh all won Golden Globe Awards for their work in the past year while making fashion statements with their outfits.
From Jenna Ortega’s Gucci dress to Tyler James Williams’ Amiri suit set, here is how Hollywood stars made a fashion statement on the 2023 Golden Globes grey carpet.
Tyler James Williams
The Golden Globes winner for Best Supporting Actor in Abbott Elementary wore a two-piece set from AMIRI’s Spring-Summer ‘23 runway look 49. The outfit styled by Ashley North was paired with Cartier accessories.
Jenna Ortega
Has Enid eventually brought some form of sunshine to Wednesday Addams’ wardrobe? Jenna Ortega particularly looked stunning in a Gucci cutout evening gown with floor-length sleeves from their iconic Spring 2023 Ready-To-Wear collection. She paired the dress with layers of choker necklaces, platform heels, and short copper-like hair.
Quinta Brunson
The actress who won the Golden Globe Award for Best Performance by an Actress in a television series for her role in Abbot Elementary looked all shades of gorgeous in a custom Siriano mermaid gown. The outfit styled by Bryon Javar was paired with heels from Giuseppe Zanotti.
Michaela Jae Rodriquez
Michaela Jae Rodriquez effortlessly pulls this look off Balmain’s 2023 Pre-Fall Collection. She paired the dress with gold stilettos and accessories.
Michelle Yeoh
Michelle Yeoh is officially a Golden Globe Award winner and she looked every bit of it in the midnight blue Armani Prive couture AW22 dress. She wore the dress with a statement yet simple diamond jewellery – a development we’re happy to see on the red carpet considering the fact that everyone seems to have a vendetta against accessories on red carpets these days.
Angela Bassett
Angela Bassett channelled the timeless look with the antique silver sequin gown from Pamella Rowland as she made Marvel history after winning Best Supporting Actress in a Motion Picture for her role in Wakanda Forever. She paired the crystal beaded fringe dress with silver accessories.
Emma D’Arcy
Emma looked all grungy and anime-ish with her oversized blazers from Acne Studios, skirt and trousers moment, blue gloves, and perfectly curated smudged eyeliner. She accessorised the outfit with a black rose that stood as a brooch and studded heels.
