How to Be A Lagos Big Boy in 4 Easy Steps

To earn the title ‘Lagos Big Boy’, there are certain criteria that must be met.

And before you start going on about how much pressure guys are under or how material things don’t make a man, please remember that I didn’t make the rules.

So here’s how to be a certified Lagos big boy in four steps.

  • Your Crib

No offense to guys who stay on the mainland, but to be a big boy, you have to own a place on the Island. Note that I said own, which means that you’re staying alone and not with your parents.

The only areas that are acceptable on the mainland are Gbagada, Ogudu, Magodo, Omole. Surulere and Yaba don’t even qualify… Sorry.

  • Your Ride

You can’t be a big boy and be hopping buses, no way. So next step is to get a nice clean ride to cruise around in.  And if you don’t have a car, then an Uber is the next best thing.

  • Your Phone

Phone and other gadget must be Apple products, or at worst Samsung…Like I said, I didn’t make the rules.

  • Access

Now this is the most important; Your worth as a big boy can only be proven if you have access to all the coolest, most exclusive spots in Lagos. If the only place you have access to is Club 57 or The Palms, then you’re still a learner

However, I know times are hard, with the recession and all, so here’s a shortcut. You can easily buy three bottles of American Honey from any Shoprite outlet in Nigeria, get three raffle tickets and automatically qualify to win a brand new Hyundai Accent, a curved LED TV, or a luxury refrigerator. Just. Like. That.
