NECLive8: Media Personality, Bolanle Olukanni, To Host Event

In the run-up to Sunday, April 25, 2021, ID Africa has confirmed Bolanle Olukanni as the host for the eighth edition of the Nigerian Entertainment Conference (NECLive8).

Bolanle Olukanni is a seasoned TV host and producer popularly known for hosting Moments with Mo and Project Fame West Africa. Bolanle had a multinational childhood — she grew up in Nigeria, Israel, America and Kenya. She graduated from Loyola University, Chicago, with Honours in a double degree of BA Communications and BA International Studies.

Her first hosting gig was as a co-host on Moments with Mo. Bolanle entered into the ‘Search for Mo’s Co-host’ competition with over 400 other hopefuls to become one of the co-hosts alongside talk show host and CEO of EbonyLife TV, Mo Abudu.

In 2015, Bolanle co-founded Sage & Walls, a multimedia production company and began producing and hosting “On the Carpet with Bolinto”, a red carpet entertainment show covering A-list events in Africa. In 2017 she wrote, directed and produced her first documentary titled “Gods Wives”, which received a nomination for Best Documentary at the Africa Magic Viewers Choice Awards. She is currently the host of Ndani TV’s show ‘The Juice’.

As the largest gathering of entertainment industry professionals in Nigeria marks its eighth edition, participants will explore the theme “Building The Future.” How can entertainment be an instrument for change? What can aspiring talents look out for as they pursue their dreams? How can we harness rapidly changing technology to hone and explore our craft? These questions, among others, will be addressed at NECLive8.

The event will be hybrid, combining a studio set-up with a live global broadcast. This edition will also feature live music, live drama, and comedy. At NECLive8, ID Africa plans to premiere the NECLive TV Special, a production that highlights the most memorable moments from previous NECLive editions.

Bolanle, speaking on the event, says, “There is no better time than now for us to begin taking active steps to build the future we want for our creative and entertainment industry. The past year’s experience has further shown how uncertain things can get and the urgent need for us to innovate and create new business models. I am honoured to be part of NECLive this year, as we discuss ways of building the future.”

Other confirmed speakers for this year’s event include Nigerian comedians Bovi and Basketmouth; co-founder, Flutterwave and Andela, Iyin Aboyeji; Nollywood star Dakore Egbuson-Akande; and founder of the Temple Management Company, Idris Olorunnimbe.

Femi Falodun, CEO of ID Africa, says, “we are delighted to have Bolanle Olukanni as the host of NECLive8. Her unique style, intelligence and professionalism stand her out as one of Nigeria’s leading media personalities today.”

NECLive has attracted more than 12,000 physical participants and 20 million viewers and audiences on television and digital for over seven years. Nigerian Entertainment Conference (often stylised as NECLive), with the hashtag #NECLive, is an umbrella conference for the entertainment industry in Nigeria, which continually discusses the trajectory of the sector and shapes the discourse and practices surrounding it.

#NECLive is the marketplace for innovative ideas, product unveiling dynamic solutions that will connect, engage, and encourage industry collaborations for sustainable socio-economic development; while offering a brighter future on the continent.
